Statement of Faith

We, the members of “Vai O Le Ola” Congregational Christian Church of Samoa, United Church of Christ, affirm our faith in the triune God- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

God the Father

We believe in God, the Creator of all things, who is ever-present, all-knowing, and all-powerful. We acknowledge his boundless love, mercy, and grace extended to all of humanity.

Jesus Christ

We belive in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord and Savior. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. On the third day, He rose from the dead, ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father. We believe in his imminent return and final judgement of all people.

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Comforter and Sustainer, who empowers and guides us in all truth. Through the Spirit, we are enlightened, sanctified, and equipped for service and witness.

The Scriptures

We affirm the Holy Bible as God’s inspired, authoritative Word. It is our ultimate guide for faith and practice, revealing God’s will for our lives.

The Church

We believe in the one, holy, universal, and apostolic church. As the body of Christ, we are called to unity, fellowship, and love, working together in ministry and outreach. We cherish our Samoan heritage, seeking to uphold our cultural traditions while embracing inclusivity and diversity.

The Sacraments

We Believe in the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion. Baptism is a sign of God’s covenant and an initiation into the body of Christ. Communion is a sacred remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice and a means of grace, uniting us with Him and with one another.

Christian Living

We are committed to living out our faith in everyday life through prayer, worship, and service. We strive for justice, peace, and reconciliation in our community and the world, reflecting Christ’s love and compassion.

Mission and Evangelism

We are called to proclaim the gospel through words and deed’s sharing the good news of salvation with all people. We support local and global missions, aiming to make disciples and build the kingdom of God.

In humility and obedience, we submit ourselves to God’s will, trusting in His promises and relying on His strength. We dedicate ourselves to the flourishing of Vai O Le Ola Congregational Christian Church of Samoa, United Church of Christ, in Lakewood, CA., and the broader community of faith. Amen.
